CHICAGO RED STARS 2017 KIT LAUNCH PARTY

Last night the Chicago Red Stars hosted a get-together to honor the launch of their new kits. The Annex marketing agency’s space housed the intimate soiree where artificial turf covered the floors and the Red Stars red/blue team colors lit up the walls. The new kits were proudly displayed alongside artwork and photos of players throughout. Media, friends and fans ate, drank/drank while DJ Step provided hip-hop driven background music. A few Red Star players were on hand to mingle, take photos and even have a small kickabout. Overall, the party was fun, well-executed and fitting. We hope more NWSL teams jump on board with installations like this.

NIKE SNEAKEASY EVENT: LOS ANGELES

Nike should just change it to Air Max Month. All month long the Swoosh has been murdering the game with releases of retros, flyknit reworks and teasers of new things to come, all in the name of the mighty Air Max. Pop ups have sprouted up worldwide serving as part retail space and Air Max Museums, we were invited to a preview of the one in LA this past weekend. As you’d expect, the space was second to none. Featuring various Air Max installations, like a Nike id station, a timeline of the iconic silos lineage and even a runway where attendees could try out and strut in the new Nike Vapor Max. An open bar, delicious hors d’oeuvres and DJ were the cherry on top. There was also a Q and A with two of the twelve designers hand selected by Nike to compete in a worldwide competition in which the winner would see his or her Air Max design manifested into production. Before the night ended  people were urged to vote for their favorite design on an onsite photo booth.

ADIDAS TANGO LEAGUE L.A.

After the “Tango League” launch in London, adidas’ worldwide street soccer tourney came to L.A. last week. An industrial warehouse in Downtown Los Angeles was dressed with moody lighting, smoke machines, wood crates and fences for a gritty, underground vibe. The premise of “Tango League” is to uncover young, local talent via worldwide 5-aside qualifiers. Winners from each region will play each other in elimination matches until a World Champion is crowned. Aside from a team trophy and praise, the athlete with the most MVP votes will become an adidas sponsored athlete/brand ambassador. With such high stakes, it is a given that the games are high-quality and cagey affairs. Our very own Shawna Gordon was on hand as a  judge and to watch Salsa Tango take the crown. The team is set to take on winner of the New York equivalent, with the hope of making it to Championship in London during the week of the Champions League final.

PUMA EVOPOWER VIGOR 1 LAUNCH IN LONDON

A warehouse in East London played host to a thrilling event which served as a launch for the radically sublime and brand new Puma . The generous team at Puma welcomed a slew of international press, media, Youtube personalities and freestylers for an engulfing soccer experience.

The event kicked off with a brief from Puma designers on the tech and details of boot. Puma athletes/teammates Olivier Giroud and Petr Cech would later join to give their respective thoughts on the new silo. Guests were then graciously draped, head-to-toe in fresh Puma gear, including the evoPower Vigor 1’s. Once decked out, the attendees were split into groups then sent to various stations in which they would run through soccer drills with the athletes. Giroud’s station was centered around shooting and accuracy while Cech’s station naturally revolved around goalkeeping. The event finished off with athlete interviews, snacks and beer.

It was overall an incredibly fun and interactive way to introduce the latest from Puma. As for the boots? They were surprisingly lightweight, flexible and fit almost instantly like a glove, needing little to no breaking in.  It also has to be noted that Giroud and Cech were gracious professionals the entire duration of the event. They joked with guests, answered every question and genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Check out our pics from the event below and stay tuned for a re-cap video as well.
