HUMAN.ET | OAKLAND ROOTS x SKO HABIBI

On the heels of the release of HUMAN.ET, a body of work comprised of 22 pieces of one-off apparel in collaboration with Oakland Roots, Jasko, and I sat down to talk about his upbringing, thoughts on humanity from the perspective of a child refugee, and how important soccer and art were for him in times of peril. A catalyst for the launch of Oakland Roots’ RAR (Roots Artist Residency) program, Jasko’s contribution spans a comprehensive collection of apparel, a zine, and a short film, which highlight a refreshing continuation of Roots’ belief in giving a platform to the arts and supporting the community that uplifts them.

US legends like Landon Donovan, Tim Howard and DaMarcus Beasly are all involved at the ownership level, teams with incredible fans and equally interesting story lines dot the league and not to mention, some of the best kits in American soccer can be found in the USL. And today marks the official unveiling of David Villa’s Queensboro FC logo and identity.

THE INSIDE OF THE OUTSIDE OF THE INSIDE OF THE BUBBLE

Over the past couple of weeks, MLS got back to action with a one of kind tournament in Orlando, FL at ESPN Wide World of Sports. The since dubbed “bubble” is a concept and idea (also adopted by the NBA) to restart and finish their league. I was able to get access to what I now call the “Inside of the Outside of the Inside of the Bubble” to shoot pitchside photography for a handful of matches in the group stages of the MLS Is Back tournament.

CALCIOPOLI – THE SCANDAL THAT ROCKED ITALIAN SOCCER

Having been equipped by the three stripes since 2016, with an extended $464 million dollar partnership that will see the Bianconeri outfitted in adidas through 2027, it’s almost easy to forget the Italian club’s long history with sportswear rival Nike, until we unearthed this gem from the 2006-2007 season that sparked a look back at the scandal that rocked the soccer world in the mid-2000s.
